About hand-dyed yarn and knitting samples

We are often asked if we can show some knitting samples in the Sysleriget's different colors and qualities. And we can understand that you would like to see! It is not always easy to work out how hand-dyed yarn looks when it is knitted up in larger projects. Therefore, over the coming time, we will make a series of blog posts with yarn suggestions for different designs - of course with a lot of pictures, where you can get a feel for the yarn in action .

TIP : The models are in the store, so if you are in Aarhus, you can come by and take a closer look at them.

At the bottom of the post, the quantity of yarn for the Stockholm Sweater in Sysleriget yarn as used in the pictures is indicated. You can of course replace the colors as you wish, the calculations are based on the running length of the individual quality.

Unicorn Party

In the pictures , the Stockholm Sweater by PetiteKnit is knitted in Merino Singles in the color Unicorn Party together with a thread of undyed Silk Mohair . The colors appear as speckles - i.e. small spots or areas of color - and this gives a nice and completely unique play of colors in the sweater. Even two sweaters knitted with the same yarn would not appear identical.

The same effect can be achieved with other colors by, for example, choosing Merino Singles Speckles 5 , which I myself have knitted my Ingen Dikkedarer Sweater in, or Merino Singles Mary Poppins . When you knit the multicolored yarn together with a follower thread that matches the base color (in this case white or plain, or a pink/pink follower thread for Mary Poppins), the speckles of the yarn really come into their own and stand out nicely. If you want a more subdued expression instead, you can choose a darker or lighter shade for the trailing thread. More on that another day.

Remember that you are always welcome to write to sidsel@sysleriget.dk with questions about colors and qualities. We are also happy to help with yarn amounts if your own calculator is teasing 😉

The following amounts of yarn are calculated for the Stockholm Sweater:

Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL
Merino Singles : 3 (3) 3 (3) 3 (4) 4 (4) 5 bold
Silk Mohair : 3 (3) 3 (3) 3 (3) 4 (4) 4 fat

You can of course replace the colors as you wish, the calculations are based on the running length of the individual quality.

Of course, you can also knit it in two strands of Silk Mohair, just as indicated in the recipe. In that case, you must use:
5 (5) 5 (6) 6 (6) 7 (7) 8 bold in total. See the selection of Silk Mohair here .

Really good knitting skills! ☺️
